Discover the History and Fun of Battleship (Sea Battle)

Battleship, also known as Sea Battle, began life as a paper-and-pencil game during World War I, later gaining popularity in the 1930s. In 1967, Milton Bradley released the plastic board version that still dominates today. It became a household name thanks to its blend of suspense and strategy—and even inspired video games and a Hollywood film.

How to Play Battleship

Each player arranges a secret fleet of ships on a grid. Players take turns calling out coordinates in an attempt to “hit” the opponent’s ships. If all the squares of a ship are hit, it's considered sunk. The first player to sink all of the opponent’s ships wins the game.
